The Supreme Court Challenge to Christians and Jews

The following is from a Catholic Actions Newsletter (Catholic Answers) I am somehow on their list to get. I am posting this here because I agree with it 100%. Regardless, or whether you are Catholic, Protestant or Jew --- these upcoming changes in the Supreme Court will have profound changes for this entire country.

In upcoming local and state elections, we as Christians need to start sending the whishy-washy representatives, who are mostly liberals --- packing also.

Justice Sandra Day O'Connor announced her retirement from the Supreme Court on Friday, July 1. It's been eleven years since the last opening on the court, one of the longest uninterrupted stretches in history. In the next year or two, two other justices will also likely retire. John Paul Stevens is the oldest member of the Court at eighty-five, and Ruth Bader Ginsberg is in her seventies. Both have serious health problems.

The replacement of three justices will result in a dramatically different Supreme Court. Groups on both sides of the political divide realize the implications of a new Court. Nan Aron, director of the liberal group Alliance for Justice, states, "The American people ought to prepare themselves to participate in one of the most extensive debates and conversations that's been had in more than a decade about the Supreme Court." Indeed, a battle is brewing, but many Americans are unaware of this fact.

For the last fifty years, Americans have lived with a Supreme Court dominated by activist justices bent on imposing their own values on the American people. More than any single government institution, the U.S. Supreme Court has been responsible for the immoral direction that our nation has been heading in for the last several decades.

Among the decisions made, the Supreme Court has: legalized abortion and removed virtually all restrictions on abortion, banned Christian prayer in public schools, struck down state laws against sodomy, protected partial-birth abortion, upheld bans on peaceful pro-life demonstrations, and removed the Ten Commandments from public courthouses.

Instead of fulfilling their duty of deciding whether the laws of our nation have been violated, many members of the current U.S. Supreme Court have prided themselves on judicial activism--struck down legitimate state and federal laws and "re-interpreting" the Constitution to mean things it was never intended to say.

This judicial activism must be stopped---because it's taking our nation to the brink of disaster. We cannot in good conscience, sit back and allow our nation's leaders to destroy our country with legalized abortion, homosexual "marriage," human cloning, embryonic stem cell research, and euthanasia.

We must keep contacting the White House and the Senate. You can find your state's senators at the link below
