Shalom. I'm a former baptist minister and am intimately familiar with the teachings of Christianity. The right as well as the wrong. I just got back into town and don't have a lot of time right now (though I wish I did) to talk with you more, and I hope that I will be able to very soon. Isaiah 9:6 doesn't read very much like your translation of the Hebrew scriptures states. It's actually way off. And it's far from being the only verse very poorly translated. I don't have my Tanakh with me right now, but the quote's more like, "'For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder.' The Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace has said this." See the difference? Anyway it's not even a Messianic propecy. It's a prophecy about a guy who was a contemporary of Isaiah's. More to come. Next time I'll bring my Bible (it's in the original, exactly the same as the parts within it as they written down by God's Prophets). Not a line or a stroke is missing. I started translating Sefer Esaiahu (Scroll of Isaiah) yesterday by the way. When I get to chapter 9 I'll get yu the exact quote. I'll give you a direct quote for the "Christmas" verse next time. Peace. Michael.
